We have been working on types of justice in Social Studies. Some of the questions that have come up: What type of justice is most fair? What type of justice is used in our society or school? Does your privilege play into what rights you have or receive? We will continue to discuss and also dig into Ancient African Constitution and Rights and compare them to our current forms of justice.

As a Velma Hamilton Community, we all started a Black Lives Matter art project in preparation for next week: BLM week of action in schools. We heard briefly from the three founders of the BLM movement and discussed values, feelings, and connections. In the next couple of school days our advisories will work on an art project to represent one of the 13 BLM principles. Here is the link to some of the learning we will take part in.

It feels like we have many things going on at once right now! We will have the chance to see the 8th musical of Beauty and the Beast tomorrow during school. It will also be held tomorrow night at 7"00 pm.

We do not have school 1/20 (MLK Jr Day) or 1/24 (grade reporting day). Students need to make sure their missing work from this quarter is turned in by next week.

Good morning & Happy New Year,

We will hold our second breakfast celebration on Monday, January 13th from 7:30-8:05am in the gym (same location as our first breakfast). Please consider bringing a food item to share (no nuts) with the group. Our first celebration was filled with delicious food, good conversation, and joy. 

We will have plates, napkins, and silverware. Please let us know if we need to provide anything else for the morning.
