Happy Weekend! Today was a great day. We start our day in our team with dancing and zumba from 7:20-7:35; it is a nice way to begin our morning. We envisioned what a perfect classroom or "homespace" would like like today and the list included suggestions such as a couch, a reading loft, and rainbows on the wall. Next week in circle, we are sharing a talking piece. It is a symbol that can stand for more than one thing—it can have many meanings. A talking piece is like that. It can be an object, or it can also represent other things not as tangible, not as specific. The apple is a piece of fruit, but it can also symbolize all fruit, or it can symbolize health, or the apple can symbolize education. Your talking piece can symbolize something about who you are as an individual. We can talk about who we are by telling the story of our talking piece, and what the parts mean. Remember that the talking piece goes around the Circle, so it must be sturdy enough to be handled by many people. It will stay at school for one week.

Homework:
ELA: Bring a talking piece and Ms Shelly's homeroom finish your homeplace drawing
Mr K Math: Mathology due Tuesday

We have started with our normal schedule today so the students have now been through a full day. I have shared a few pictures of our classroom space. Mr K Math: Mathography due Tuesday

Good afternoon,
Hope you are hearing good reports from our classroom community. Tomorrow we start a regular schedule and we are VERY much looking forward to it. One of the universal systems at Velma Hamilton is using binders (see picture). We had the chance to set them up and we are ready. You will not see the binder come home daily but you should see the homework folder and planner come home daily.

Good afternoon. What a lovely first day! Students are probably coming home tired and overwhelmed; it will get better as middle school takes a bit to navigate. Know that I sent my two sons off to school today as well, and so I am just as nervous about the transition as you probably are. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
